KAT Database
To be able to give to the consumer a credible promise on proof of origin and traceability, KAT set up a database in 1998. Today, this records all goods movements from the agricultural producer farm right up to the food retailer. The number of laying hens, laying performance, the quantities of eggs handled at packing stations and the processing into egg products are recorded at every step, documented and checked. Also, farm and hen house data and audit results are kept in this central database. In this way, auditors can at any time or place retrieve information on goods movements and the respective companies and can check the information given by the companies for integrity.
